Bioinformatics Scientist at NIH/NHGRI – Long-Term Contract Position – Kelly Government Solutions – Rockville, MD

This is a long-term contract position.  Perform computational biology data assessment and statistical analyses of large scale datasets generated from RNA-seq high throughput platforms ; RNA or DNA sequencing, including alignment of the sequence reads, running analysis programs like top-hat or other Next Generation Sequence Analysis Tools and applying biological knowledge to the interpretation of the results, and more.

Requirements:  Ph. Director of Epidemiology, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Bethesda, MD 

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, seeks a Director of Epidemiology in the National Headquarters office in Bethesda, Maryland.  Responsibilities Include:  Collaborate in the development of an intramural research program that utilizes the CF Foundation patient registry database.   Plan and direct studies using data from the patient registry, including comparative effectiveness research and prospective studies embedded in the registry, and much more.

Qualifications:  PhD in Epidemiology with three years of experience OR PhD in Statistics with extensive experience in working with observational data.  Master’s level epidemiologists with extensive experience and a track record of success will also be considered.  Experience with registries or other large observational data sets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency of statistical computing in SAS, R, or STATA.

Assistant Professor, Computational Neuroscientist, American University

Geneticist, Tenure-Track Professor, Dickinson College

The Biology Department at Dickinson College seeks a Geneticist to fill a new tenure-track assistant professor position beginning July 1, 2013.  Located in south central Pennsylvania, Dickinson (enrollment of 2,300) is a highly selective national liberal arts college with an emphasis on innovative science teaching and student/faculty research.

Teaching responsibilities will include introductory biology, Genetics (with lab), upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, and occasional participation in our First-year seminar program. The ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be an important characteristic of the successful candidate.  The research area is open, but should use modern molecular, cellular, genetic, genomic, and/or biochemical approaches.

The successful applicant will contribute to the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology program, have laboratory and office space in the newly completed Rector science complex, have access to startup funds, and be expected to develop a vigorous research program involving undergraduates.
