Postdoctoral Fellowship, Chemical Biology Division – New England Biolabs

New England Biolabs, Inc. (NEB) is a privately held biotechnology company with a worldwide reputation for providing quality reagents for the molecular biology market. NEB’s customers range from small academic laboratories to major research institutions to large industrial corporations. NEB has a strong research focus, and relies on the cooperative interaction of a motivated workforce for its success. NEB is located in a beautiful estate setting, LEED certified building north of Boston.

The Chemical Biology Division invites applicants for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow. The project will focus on the enzymatic characterization of various DNA oxygenases, whose reaction products might denote novel epigenetic signatures, or provide the means to remove prior epigenetic marks. An example of such proteins are the ten-eleven translocation (TET) proteins from mammals, which have been shown to activate oxygen for the iterative oxidation of 5-methylcytosine into three modified bases, 5-hydroxymethylcytosine, 5-formylcytosine and 5-carboxylcytosine, in the mammalian genome. The main goal of the project is to perform detailed biochemical and mechanistic analysis of these proteins. The successful candidate will be expected to effectively manage collaborations with NEB and academic scientists.
